Approval is a designed moment

Human oversight is often invoked as if placing a person at the end of a process were enough. It is not. The reviewer needs an interface that identifies the candidate, shows what changed, separates completed checks from open questions, and explains what approval will establish.

That interface might be a screen, an annotated proof or a comparison sheet. The medium matters less than the decision it supports.

A machine can confirm that files exist or identifiers match. A human must judge whether a translation keeps its promise, whether an intervention respects the source, or whether a cover belongs to its collection. Those forms of evidence should be presented together without being conflated.

Rejection also needs a route. A precise comment should return the affected element to a known state, not cast doubt on the whole book. Good validation preserves both judgment and the work that remains valid.
